Sustainability
Sustainability has many ramifications and it is difficult to change everything you would like at once. But, one step at a time, it is still progressing and becoming an increasingly anchored way of working, both in everyday work and for new projects.
So, what do we do at Kerstins camping?
Sustainability has many ramifications and it is difficult to change everything you would like at once. But, one step at a time, it is still moving forward and becoming an increasingly anchored way of working, both in everyday work and for new projects.
So how do we work with sustainability at Kerstin’s camping? Just like at our sister campsite on Orust, Stocken camping, we always have in the back of our minds how we can do things differently and more sustainably today and looking forward. For example, for new construction and maintenance work, we always make sure to, as far as it is possible, cooperate with local and regional contractors.
Cleaning agents used in the business have been replaced with environmentally friendly ones and we also plan to equip the facility’s laundry room with an automatic self-dosing washing machine, to avoid overdosing of detergents. The detergent is both allergy and environmentally friendly. The showers in the service buildings are subject to a fee and the sinks are now equipped with touchless taps, to help keep water consumption down. Low-flush toilets are also part of the planning.
We have zero tolerance for littering at Kerstin’s and in our garbage yard you can partly sort your waste into different categories.
All older lighting at the facility are replaced with LED. We do not have any fossil heating systems at Kerstin’s and our photovoltaic system helps to keep the cost of electricity down, as well as having an energy-saving effect. We are now also looking into the possibility of installing a set of batteries to be able to store electricity from the plant.
Since autumn 2024 two the campsite offers two charging posts for electric cars.
Gradually, we are also replacing our fossil-fuelled motorized equipment at the campsite with electric equivalents.
For the safety of our guests, our camping pitches are well marked to easily maintain a good safety distance between the vehicles. Fire extinguishers, which are inspected every year, are located at the campsite and are marked on our area map.
When it comes to social sustainability, for example, we have an agreement with Visita, (trade and employer organization for the Swedish hospitality industry), and annually offer the opportunity for local young people to get a good start in working life in a safe and secure workplace. With us, neither abusive discrimination nor harassment is accepted in any form – with us, everyone is equal.
On our website kerstinscamping.se, in our brochure that every guest receives on arrival and at our reception we provide tips and information about activities and attractions both locally and regionally. The longer the guest stays, the better for us as well as other companies in the Dalsland region.
